Thursday Recap Report-Weekend Possibilities:
A Summary of local fishing from Santa Monica to Oceanside, including Catalina and San Clemente Islands, with fishing trips out of San Diego down to Baja, Mexico.

The offshore scene was brutal over the weekend, suffering from 20 to 25 knot winds most of the time. On Wednesday, conditions improved, and there were some good counts on the Bluefin Tuna, with a decent mix of better grade Yellowtail. Fortunately some of the Yellowtail are increasing in size from what was mostly 3 to 10 pound fish being caught. Most fish are still being caught from 100 to 120 miles south of the border, down off the beach below Ensenada and near San Martin Island.
The San Clemente Island Yellowtail has been hit and miss since the weather turned. The same remains true for Catalina, just when the Yellowtail began to show up, it was shut down by the conditions.
Sand Bass and Calico Bass fishing has slowed down, as they concentrate on the Long Beach Barracuda bite, which has improved all week.
The White Seabass Island bite comes and goes with some good days mixed in.
The Mardiosa managed to catch 7 White Seabass, 31 Calico Bass, 10 Barracuda and 2 Sheephead on their trip yesterday, Thursday, 07-05-12.

Private boater Dwayne fished with his friend last week and caught limits of White Seabass at Catalina. Some pictures:

Some decent fishing at the Coronado Islands occurred this week yielding some Yellowtail, most of which are 20 to 30 pounds.
Private boater Lal fished with friend Big Dave on Tuesday, 07-03-12 at the Middle Grounds and they caught one 21 pound Yellowtail out of five hook ups. They were both using 20 pound test line and got smoked on the rocks each time they lost a Tail.

Weather
The weather forecast for both Saturday and Sunday locally looks to be fishable in the morning, breezy in the afternoon, the offshore scene calls for it to be a bit breezy. Always check the latest forecast before leaving the dock.
