Thursday Recap Report-Weekend Possibilities:
A Summary of local fishing from Santa Monica to Oceanside, including Catalina and San Clemente Islands, with fishing trips out of San Diego down to Baja, Mexico.

The Long Beach Halibut Tournament ended on Wednesday 03-13-13. There was only one qualifying Halibut caught on the fish off on Sunday, 03-17-13.

A single Halibut caught off the Native Sun on Sunday, 03-17-13, and the winner is Vince Graves:

Other local action is concentrated on catching Rockfish, Reds and big Lingcod, both along the coast and at the Islands. Private boaters targeting the Sand and Calico Bass have found the cold water temps in the 53 degree range has put a damper on results, with an occasional bite on quality Bass off structure or kelp beds.

The Yellowtail bite south of the border, slowed somewhat early in the week, and then picked up speed the last couple of days. The ¾ day boat, San Diego managed to catch 54 Yellowtail on their Thursday, 03-21-13 trip. These fish range in size from 15 to 33 pounds and are being mostly caught on the Yo Yo Iron. On the same day the Malihini caught 28 Yellowtail.
