Seeker Hercules Rods

Has anybody pulled on the new Seeker Hercules rods?

They now have some longer blanks in the 8' and 9' lengths

The one I'm wondering about would be the GTS 80
This will be a 25lb bait rod
Length: 8'
Line size: 15-30lb.
Action: Medium
Tip size: 8
Butt size .659

Thanks, Scott

re: Seeker Hercules Rods

I've owned a 70L and 70H for at least 6 months now. They feel lighter than other rods and are a lot more whip like than most of the graphite rods I own. It has been said they are designed to be like the Shimano rods designed for fishing butterfly jigs. That said while I have owned the rods, read the reviews, and pulled them out now and then I have yet to fish either one of them.

I fished with one last trip caught a couple 20# yellows with it using iron.....casts well and nice action... a little stiff but one can get used to it...used 40# and a B2 400n 0n it.......it's a nice stick IMO.

Fishy,

Which one did you use? Your thoughts on using one for larger fish.

re: Seeker Hercules Rods

IN2DEEP I am wrapping a GTS70H and a GTS60XH Hercules Blanks. I like the feel and action on these rods. They will be nice to fish Alaska with.

It would be nice if a local tackle shop would let you put a reel on. Cast a few lead heads and pull some drag.

Did your friend Bill pull on the Super Seeker?????

re: Seeker Hercules Rods

I took the 7 ft 30-80 pound rod to Alijos, and used it with a 2spd LX using a 40 pound leader on spectra -- and it landed 6 tuna 50 to 70 pound range -- it had the power to pull them up while circling

It is very light, but was up to the task with these tuna.

I am very happy with it and will use it again.

I have not tried the 8ft length

I think it was the shs70m.....If you mean 100# fish I would go with the H........and you should have no problem....

re: Seeker Hercules Rods

I used a SHS60XH-6 and a Trini40 on San Pablo Bay yellow tail. I liked it so much that I bought a SHS70-H7. They are much lighter to hold than my Super Seekers. We'll see how thay hold up.

re: Seeker Hercules Rods

Guys, Thanks for the feedback!

Did a little searching on the net and found these:

It seems that if you get careless with "high sticking" these rods, they may break up near the tip
Other than that, they seem to be well received by many

I have a feeling that the 8' & 9' models are too new to be in the stores just yet... can't wait to check them out Shades
