Welcome to San Pedro !
A new boat owner from The Valley in the marina was going to see about a new job yesterday at 7:00 am. He left the marina when he turned off Harbor Drive uphill around 17th. At the stop sign across the street from the Dalmation American Club a young short tattooed Latino was crossing the street when he made a move and put a 38 Revolver up to his head and said 'Get out of the truck' (mid 70's Chevy beater) He said 'F U your not taking my truck' The 5'2" gangster homie then took his wallet and ran.
This was the 4th time this guy has been carjacked. 2 company plumbing vans taken and once his buddies car was taken he was the passenger. All those were in the Valley and Pacoima.
Word of caution out to boaters in San Pedro/Wilmington/Long Beach

Can we use the deterents NOAA has authorized against these pukes? Or is a shotgun out of the question?

Gee no lack of sympathy here but with bad luck like that maybe he should just give up driving.....
For that matter why didn't he say "F U your not taking my wallet"

What does this have to do with fishing or boating? Crime happens everywhere, including where you live!
The reason of the post is to warn boat owners to be carefull around the port. If your with 1 - 2 or more buddies you won't be such a target. But if your boating solo near the launch ramp you could be a target. This guy thought he moved to a area 'to get away from it all' and start a new lifestyle.
Crime happens everywhere. Yes that is true although some areas have alot more crime than others. Long Beach will have a $1,000,000 + house near Belmont with homeless working the alleys at night, across the river in Seal Beach you will have alot less riff raff.
The Homie was arrested committing a armed robbery in Long Beach the next day.
A retired cop friend had his brother shot and killed during a carjack.
LAPD Harbor Division is in big trouble and is way understaffed.
All you have to do is read the Daily Breeze thursday and you will see.
They average 15 nacotics arrests a week in Pedro. Those druggies need cash.
Boaters going solo I feel are a $ target.
This warning post goes out to those guys.
Alot of talk about Boaters Saftey on AllCoast.
Don't get robbed or killed on your way to go fishing.

I Totally agree. We are all druggies here in Pedro, plus it is way too crowded, especially for you SBK's.

All I am saying is solo boaters need to use caution around the Port.
Even Davies has the dumpster area (hide out spot).

re: Welcome to San Pedro !
Hey Kid,
Long time. I don't think you understand. I totally agree with rat. I mean the Cabrillo launch ramp is awful. The new bait facility is terrible. Fuel facilities are overpriced and the Pedro folks who man it are just mean. And boy those drug dealers, they can sure spot an OT especially the supple flesh of the Barney's from the South Bay(SB). Now don't forget to never go SE of Point Vincente..........Pirates!! Heck I even saw the Black Pearl, the scourge of Rat Beach anchored up inside the harbor not too long ago. I agree rat, don't ever come to Pedro. Its way too dangerous.
