Maybe by Canadians or other foreigners who have been enticed with low or no visa costs but NOT by Americans! And are we talking about the coastal destinations from Tijuana to Cabo and PV which are the areas we are talking about here relating to LR sport boats not destinations like Acapulco or Cancun (Yucatan coast) which are further south (closer to the wealthy and those running the country in Mexico city) and farther away from the drug cartels? Tourism has dropped so low in ceratin parts of Mexico that you can make figures say what ever you want based on a one year comparison. I have three friends (one is neighbor) who have owned property in the areas mentioned for many years and they can't hardly give them away right now, all three are somewhat afraid of the situation and won't risk going there with their familes (Cabo, Rosarito, PV).
Tight lines!

this sealed the deal for my wife, we will nto be visiting Mexico as a family. She was the one who showed me this news report. I was succesfully petitioning for a trip to PV next winter, but that just went out the window. A bunch of armed men storm a bus of tourists!!!!! that is insanity! I would never subject my family to that type of risk.

That is a fairly calculated risk in that you will be picked up at the airport by locals who live/work there, and then transported via their vehicle a short distance to an exlusive (gated) residential community where the Maximus is docked... how much time do plan on spending in the city of PV itself, will you be checking out some of the local nightlife?... I'll bet NOT if you take the time to actually think about the risks involved. I have been to PV many times in the past 15 years, but I view it much differently today than in years gone by (your safety in the hands of local police protection is just not happening IMO, nothing to do with the local people as they are some of the warmest, friendliest folks on planet earth).

There are no bandidos and bigger tuna in Chatam on Cape Cod. Let's agree to disagree as suggesting to a man where he should and should not take his loved one's is walking a fine line. all the best!

It must be due to that new "adventure package" they're offering now.
I hear it includes a flack vest, kevlar helmet, tailored BDUs, desert boots, choice of an AR or AK, choice of side arms.........
FISH AND HUNT HARD!

re: RR3 Angler under investigation for selling fish
Looks like tourism in Mexico is up double digits from Russians and Ukrainians according to one report I read... that makes sense as those countries are also being challenged by corrupt criminals and greedy government officials who are raping their own people by selling off government owned assests (surplus weapons), minerals and other resources for personal gain by using scare tactics and thug type warfare to get their way. Those Ukrainian thugs are ruthless and they have similar values to the Mexican drug cartel thugs as in they will cut you into pieces if they have too in order to get what they want and protect their illegal trade. And I wouldn't be surprised if corrupt Russians were selling and smuggling in used government surplus weapons to the drug cartels doing battle with the Mexican government and U.S. support (just like they do in Africa, Iran, Pakistan, etc.). The buyers of these surplus weapons are real life tough guys who are all in (with no fear of death), so even good old Dirty Harry would think twice about messing with them by himself... trust me this is not a 45 magnum one on one confrontation for the most part... more like AK-47's and Saiga 12's (which is a top combat shotgun made in Russia of all places) placed in the hands of true bandidos on a mission of terror. Selling drugs whether its the legal kind or the illegal type is BIG business with MUCHO dinero at stake here for those pulling the strings.
Tight lines!

re: RR3 Angler under investigation for selling fish
Troubling for me is the impact on the economy of Mexico, the vendors at parks selling cut fruit, bus drivers, tour guides, and the owners of shops trying to find customers for their goods.A standard of living reaching poverty levels for many more,a police system that is safer when in the hands of cartels,I often wonder what role a US army and occupation with martial law would do to help restore order,IMO Ray
