Calstar BTG90J or 690J

I am considering building a new jig rod for surface iron using 30-40lb line. Has anyone used the Calstar BTG90J or BTG690J rods? I understand these are a graphite/glass composite but with a softer action that the GF graphiter series of rods. Which rod would be best for 30-40lb line?

Thanks for your help.

The 690J is a 25-30# rod for the bass and cuda. The 90J is what you'd want for 40#.

Another vote for the BTG90J. It is an awesome rod for 30 and 40#.

re: Calstar BTG90J or 690J

I have 2, T90j's and a bunch of T100's, 9-10ft and for the past +15 years or so. I thought they were the best sticks on earth......this was until I picked up the Super Seeker Ulua 10' !!!!

Awesome 40 jig stick !

Question: What type of iron will you be throwing ?
Here is my suggestion : just my 2 cents

Super Seeker "Baby" Ulua > 30lb // AA, A1 and Tady C type iron.
- I heard of guys breaking the tip section off trying to load up to
cast the 7x's and 45' size iron.

Super Seeker Ulua > 30/40lb // 7X's and 45's type iron.

My goto stick ia an Ulua93H that I got from Hazman. I'm guessing it started as the 10'er with probably 7" off the butt and 2" off the tip. It has about a 10 tip while the 93H has a 14 tip and the 10'er has a 9. It does a great job firing off Tady 45's using 40# line.
