internet fishing now on
I started a new topic yesterday On "Class Act Interpid" an had to sign off.
I received some sobering advice from my Cardio two weeks ago telling me that if I was to continue fishing, I could very well end up being tied to the rail while comming in to the landing. What he called a Polish Cow. Seriously, my heart has weakend considerably and in the best interests of not having any further heart attacks, its time to hang it up. Wife comes 1st. I had a nice depoist on the 12 day Interpid trip with my Brother Fishybuzz whom I have spent many a day at the rail with over these great years. I contacted Ken the owner of the Interpid and like a true sportsman and gentlemen he is, without any heistation said your entire deposit will be refunded, an that if I ever needed any fish to just call him and that it will be on the landing waiting for me. Now thats A Class Act people.
I have been LR fishing since the 60's. I have no idea of how many trips or days I have spent on the water with the likes of my Great Buddy, Fishybuzz, Jim Hall (Titan), Willy, Hoodad aka(Rabbi) Jenks, Jamie, and of course Larry Cofe' an Steve K. If I left you out its not because your forgotten its just space my brothers. This has been my 2nd love in life. To sit on the stern, a good drink in my hand, a great cigar and with the people I care about and share stories, yes and Lies,,,,,,it what it was an will always be about. The feel of your line exploding off the reel, that unstopable fish on the other end, the exhausting fight only to lose it at color or gaff will always be with me. You My Friends is what made the experience so memorable. I will miss you, the captains, the crew but most of all I will miss just the wonderfull feeling of the spray on my face and the thrill of just being on the water with my brothers.
Tight lines to All
Ray

Gumba sorry to hear that. It has been a pleasure fishing with you and eating your pickled eggs before they end up all over the salon floor. You will be missed at the evening Cocktail/BS hour. Your friend Jenks

I am sorry to read about your medical condition. I hope you might be able to do some of the shorter trips. Though we have never met,I had thought I would eventually run into you on one of my longer trips. Reading your post I have definitly learned a lot from you. Whatever you do best of luck and please continue to contribute. I truly appreciate your perspective.

It's a sad day here in the Midwest.
Was looking forward to fishing with you again.
I feel honored to have met you and spend some
time getting to know you on the Intrepid trip.
Next time I'm on the west coast, I'll look you up
and will bring you some sliders. If you ever make
it out my way. You always have a place to stay.
Take care Ray!
Mark

Ray, I'm glad I had the privilege to share the rail with you last year. Best of luck, and I'll be sure to lift a glass in your honor.

Ray,
Like others I have not met you but it has been fun reading your insights--I hope some of mine have been as good,
I am getting older but I hope I can go on a while longer before I have to ride (fish?) into the sunset.
Vaya Con Dios!
Paul

Hey Ray, I just got back from Alijos and even though there is no lighthouse there, there is a face in the rocks. Thought about you the whole trip.

re: internet fishing now on
So,
Why you giving up longrange fishing? I ain't no doctor, buy why not alter your lifestyle (walk more, eat better, give up doing drugs such as alcohol, cigs and cigars, etc) and continue doing what you obviously like doing so much. All of coarse, under a doctor's care.
And yes, I am serious. I ain't in no way saying you should go against your physician's advice. I'm just saying you should either get another physician (one who longrange fishes ) or see if you could work with the one you got and come up with a plan. You shouldn't have to give up your passions.

Ray,
Sorry to hear that CJ and myself will not be sharing rail time with you.
Does this mean no more chicken feet?

Ray, having fished with you last year, there is no doubt how much you enjoy it. And there is also no doubt that you are making the right decision. As others have said, hopefully you will be able to make shorter trips and target less stress inducing fish.
I'd say "take care", but its clear that you already have enough sense to do just that.
All the best,
Brad
