Major disappointment...

Got the word tonight via a phone message that my Nov. 28th 12 day on the Q-105 has been cancelled.

The office had told me on Nov. 2nd the trip was a definite GO!

Got the time off from work, now what?

Anybody looking for an angler to help fill their trip? A boat running light?

Thanks for your help. I'm gonna go cry in my tequila.

Joe,

Call the Amercan Angler. They have a 10 day leaving the 28th. I think they have openings.

How much do anglers get charged when cancelling less than 30 days from departure?

I don't know, I've never cancelled a trip before.

I don't think I'd be real choosy, your going to have 15 or 20 guys scrambling for a trip. If it's me, I'm on the phone leaving messages with the office or firing emails so I'm first in the calling order in the morning, especially in your case where you seem to be tied to specific dates.

I'm not just talking about your trip only, I'm being conservative in regards to counting those anglers on the fence waiting to see if a big bite shapes up and have the free time and seeing that now there is one less opportunity. Which is my case exactly.

I'm sure you know best, just trying to be helpful.

Thanks for the input.
Hadn't considered that aspect at all, just thinking of myself. Again.

re: Major disappointment...

The EXCEL has a few openings on a 16 day that leaves Friday 27 November. I have fished this trip since 1992 and it has a great group of anglers on it and usually catches its share of fish.

The phone number at the EXCEL office is 619-223-7493.

Sadly no, but it's a great crew and a very good boat. If I were going fishing it would be on top of my list.

You can't beat the folks on the American Angler, upupup

re: Major disappointment...

Looking at the schedules, (one of my bookmarks) I see 8 or 9 boats departing 11/27-28 on 10-16 day trips. Pick one, go fish. Not a bad one in the bunch. I fished that Angler Bob's Sporting Goods trip in '07 with Jim Hall and we had a great time. Learned a lot, caught a few fish, Jim got his first cow. Give it a try. Here's Jim's fish.

I told them I definitely go on the trip if they go to Hurricane Bank, but they just said they can not quarantee it though there is good possibility they might go to Hurricane Bank.
I guess it is better to go back to Panama again with the money to test my tackles Smile

re: Major disappointment...

Have you talked to John or the office diectly?
I can't imagine that you'd be charged for a cancellation if THEY cancelled. Good luck, hope you find a replacement trip. The Q group is a first class operation and if they cancelled there must be a good reason.Considering the present economic situation it doesn't suprise me that if they can't fill spots to make it a profitable trip they have no choice (if that's the actually the problem)
Who knows?
Wish I could get back to the long-range again, just to much dinero for me these days.
