Monofilament
I've been using Izor First String for my heavier applications (50# up) and it is plenty strong but stiff. I am looking for something that is a bit more pliable. Basil recommends Momoi Hi Catch Nylon. Other suggestions? I will be using this to sling iron/wahoo jigs (I hope), trolling and dropper loop.

Izorline is what I use, and would highly recommend.

re: Monofilament
Same here...Izorline. Why do you need more pliable slinging iron, trolling, droppers? I start spraying with a spray bottle as soon as I rack a rig in the rodholder.

re: Monofilament
if you think it's stiff now, keep it on your reel over a day
izor is king
unless you fish "other" monofilaments past their rated strength, like soft steel
izor greatly overtests and gets bit like a mofo
so, you could even fis a lower strength izor to come up with higher test results for stealth
but, this was all before flouro

re: Monofilament
I'm with Basil. Momoi HiCatch also over tests by a big margin.
Let's see now, Basil has access to anything he wants, has a line testing machine, and uses/recommends HiCatch. Hmmmmmm.

Ancora Imparo, I am still learning.

re: Monofilament
In reality, both great lines .Why not buy a small spool of the usual suspects and find out which suits you best? After all, what suits one guy might not suit another.

Because, IMO, it's way better to buy the big giant spools, to cut down on memory coil.

re: Monofilament
I also like the Moimoi for 50lb but have not used izorline (hard to find in FL) so I cannot compare. On the east coast we use alot of Suffix especially for trolling. it is reasonably priced and I heard that Suffix and Izorline are produced in the same factory in Taiwan. Perhaps Basil you can chime in and confirm that.

re: Monofilament
Wahoodad,I completely agree that once you find a line your happy with bulk spools are the way to go. But if you want to try out a few brands to find one you are happy with,I'd buy the smaller spools as 'samplers' .I think this is even better than trying them for feel in a tackle shop as the best way to test a line is to fish it.I also think the only reason to buy large spools is the price per yard drops .The coil memory benefit goes within a day or two of being loaded onto a reel.

Doggone big spools last me about 10-12 years now, since I'm only using 20 feet at a time

re: Monofilament
This Subject Again ???
The last several discussions over the years ended up with Izorline as the MOST PREFERRED ----- seems it still is.
Enough already---Izorline wins IMHO

re: Monofilament
I still use Big Game for half the price.
I DO upsize 10-20 lbs for a given use but it works for me.
Never tried Izor.
