MONSTER BLUE GILLS..lake skinner.
Went out a few days ago in search of bass.
Well i ran into these guys and have at it for a bit.
All released to breed.
Later , I went carp fishin at elsinore and caught a few .
I went back out the next day for a few dozen more.
Released.

Geeez those things were beasts,I don't blame you at all for targeting them,theres always bass around but theres not always gills like those around,I've caught a few but never consistently like that.WTG

Yeow! Those are some big 'gills! Bluegill are GROSSLY under-respected as a game fish (and they're oh-so-tasty, too.) Good job on the release, more people should do it. Just one successful spawn from a fish that size would re-populate most of the lake.

Those are some of the largest bluegill I've ever seen, slabs really. Thats the way to enjoy whats available. Good job on releasing those tasty little buggers, next season the bass will be that much fatter for you.

Great report, we had some great gill fishing earlier this year. I release all of the gills and crappie I catch here at Naci. They are just too beautiful to kill. Going out tomorrow with my fly rod for some white bass.
