Yes, the beat goes on, the Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna, Yellowtail and Dorado keep on biting offshore. Numerous boats ran over the weekend and most caught limits of the smaller Yellowtail, a mix of Tuna to 40 pounds, and a good bite on Dorado 10 to 20 pounds. See below for some of the better scores over the weekend and this week.
The Pacific Queen on a 1.5-day trip returning Thursday, 10-27-11 caught 7 Bluefin Tuna, 7 Yellowfin Tuna, 5 Skipjack_Tuna, 60 Yellowtail and 24 Dorado for 14 anglers.
The Condor on a 1.5-day trip last weekend caught 6 Bluefin Tuna, 10 Yellowfin Tuna, 150 Yellowtail and 34 Dorado for 34 anglers. Some pictures from Brian off the trip:
The Ocean Odyssey returned from a 1.5-day trip Sunday, 10-24-11 catching 1 Bluefin Tuna, 130 Yellowfin Tuna, 30 Skipjack_Tuna, 66 Yellowtail and 4 Dorado for 26 anglers. Some pictures from Steve off the trip:
The Freedom out of 22nd Street Landing has been running weekend trips to San Nicolas Island catching lots of Lingcod, Big Sheephead, Rockfish and some big Halibut. Some pictures:
At Catalina, the Dreamer out of Pierpoint Landing made a run on Wednesday, 10-26-11, and the six anglers caught 1 Yellowtail, 1 White Seabass and 52 Calico Bass. The ¾ day’s boats continue to catch a good mix of Calico Bass, Rockfish, Whitefish, Sheephead and an occasional Barracuda and Bonito.
At San Clemente Island –the Fury had a great 2-day trip over the weekend catching limits of Whitefish, big Sheephead, and 69 Bonito.
On the local scene, Sculpin and Rockfishing are the primary targets, with a mix of Sheephead, Whitefish, Calico and Sand Bass, Lingcod and an Occasional Halibut. The boats in Santa Monica had some good shots on the Lingcod over the weekend. The ¾ day boat Sea Angler is running Sand Dab and Rockfish specials daily.
Twilight fishing: Very few boats made it out and are catching primarily Sculpin. The Freelance ran a twilight trip out of Davey’s Locker on Sunday, 10-23-11, with 44 anglers catching 2 Sand Bass, 131 Sculpin and 2 Cabazon.
In Santa Monica Bay
Private boater Jason fished with friends Mike and Vince on Sunday, 10-23-11 and caught plenty of big Copper and other Rockfish. Some Pictures:
The ½ boat Redondo Special caught 123 Rockfish and 1 Lingcod on their trip Saturday, 10-22-11, for 32 anglers, while the ¾ day boat Tradition caught 1 Sand Bass, 150 Rockfish, 1 Black Sea Bass released, 75 Sculpin and 1 Sole for 15 anglers on Saturday, 10-22-11. The ½ day boat New Del Mar caught 211 Rockfish, 9 Lingcod and 93 Sculpin on their trip Saturday, 10-22-11, out of Marina Del Rey, for 63 anglers. The Spitfire caught 100 Rockfish, 4 Lingcod and 140 Red Snapper on their trip Sunday, 10-23-11, for 30 anglers. The 3/4 boat Betty O caught 100 Rockfish, 4 Sculpin and 30 Perch for 14 anglers on Saturday, 10-22-11.
Newport Beach and Dana Point.
The Freelance ran a ¾ day trip out of Davey’s Locker on Sunday, 10-23-11, with 79 anglers catching 6 Sheephead, 8 Whitefish, 15 Mackerel, 17 Rockfish and 100 Perch. The Western Pride, out of Davey’s Locker, fished Friday, 10-21-11, with 35 anglers catching 44 Bocaccio, 31 Rockfish, 53 Sculpin and 25 Sand Dab.
The ¾ day boat Patriot out of Newport Landing caught 3 Whitefish, 140 Sculpin, 30 Red Snapper and 1 Cabazon on their Saturday, 10-22-11, trip for 28 anglers. The ½ day boat Nautilus caught 2 Calico Bass, 6 Sand Bass, 1 Rockfish and 60 Sculpin on their Monday, 10-24-11, trip for 13 anglers.
The ¾ day boat Sum Fun out of Dana Wharf caught 1 Halibut, 7 Calico Bass, 1 Sand Bass, 5 Sheephead and 2 Rockfish on their Saturday, 10-22-11, trip for 35 anglers. The ¾ day boat Dana Pride also out of Dana Wharf fished on Saturday, 10-22-11, with 26 anglers catching 24 Calico Bass, 3 Barracuda, 1 Sheephead, 1 Whitefish, 1 Bonito and 23 Perch.
Long Beach and San Pedro
The Enterprise out of Long Beach Marina Landing caught 12 Sheephead, 4 Whitefish, 30 Bocaccio (limits), 80 Rockfish, 75 Sculpin, 30 Perch and 29 Red Snapper for 15 anglers on their trip Sunday, 10-23-11.
The ¾ day Victory out of Pierpoint Landing caught 23 Sheephead, 4 Whitefish, 100 Rockfish and 11 Perch on their trip Sunday, 10-23-11, with 14 anglers. The ½ day boat Southern Cal caught 166 Rockfish and 182 Sand Dab on their ½ day trip Saturday, 10-22-11, with 19 anglers.
The ½ day boat Monte Carlo out of 22nd Street Landing ran a morning trip on Saturday, 10-22-11, and the 44 anglers caught 88 Bocaccio(limits), 52 Rockfish, 18 Sculpin, 250 Sand Dab and 26 Red Snapper. The ¾ day boat Sea Angler fished on Saturday, 10-22-11, and the 14 anglers caught 20 Bocaccio, 110 Rockfish, 20 Sculpin, 1820 Sand Dab and 10 Red Snapper.
The ½ day boat Matt Walsh out of LA Harbor fished on Tuesday, 10-25-11, with 10 anglers catching 28 Calico Bass, 7 Sand Bass, 14 Sheephead and 10 Perch.
Catalina/Santa Barbara Island!
The Pursuit out of 22nd Street Landing ran a full day trip to Catalina on Saturday, 10-22-11, and the 15 anglers caught 4 Calico Bass, 45 Sheephead, 37 Whitefish, 30 Rockfish, 246 Perch and 2 Sargo.
The ¾ day Sport King out of LA Harbor ran a trip on Monday, 10-24-11, with 20 anglers catching 1 Sheephead, 40 Bocaccio, 75 Rockfish, 2 Lingcod and 35 Red Snapper.
The Fury out of Dana Wharf ran a trip on Monday, 10-24-11, with 27 anglers catching 37 Calico Bass, 2 Barracuda, 8 Sheephead, 1 Whitefish, 4 Bonito and 55 Perch.
San Clemente Island!
The Fury out of Dana Wharf ran a 2-day trip ending on Sunday, 10-23-11, with 33 anglers catching 2 Calico Bass, 79 Sheephead, 332 Whitefish (limits), 219 Rockfish, 69 Bonito, 1 Lingcod and 14 Sculpin.
The Toronado out of Pierpoint Landing caught 31 Sheephead, 102 Whitefish, 200 Rockfish and 6 Lingcod for 20 anglers on Saturday, 10-22-11.
The Freedom out of 22nd Street Landing ran a trip to the Island Saturday, 10-22-11, catching 1 Yellowtail, 1 Halibut, 21 Calico Bass, 27 Sheephead, 34 Whitefish, 25 Rockfish, 17 Bonito, 6 Sculpin and 84 Perch.
Down South-San Diego and good ole Mexico!
The ¾ day boat San Diego ran a trip on Saturday, 10-22-11, with 24 anglers catching 2 Yellowtail, 108 Rockfish, 2 Lingcod and 21 Red Snapper.
The Indian is running full day Rockcod trips to the Finger Bank and on south of Point Loma on Wednesdays at $99 and Weekends for $125. Their last trip resulted in limits for all aboard.
