Thursday Recap Report-Weekend Possibilities:
A Summary of local fishing from Santa Monica to Oceanside, including Catalina and San Clemente Islands, with fishing trips out of San Diego down to Baja, Mexico.

OK, Turn Out the Lights, the party's over! Yes the multi day boats caught some Yellowfin Tuna over the weekend, although not that many. A few Dorado were added to the catch, and a lot of kelp Paddies were still loaded with the small Yellowtail, plus a few decent sized ones. However, most boats called it a season. The Angler interest has dwindled to a small few and the boats just won't run at a lost this time of year. The last 1.5 day trip report came from Sunday's fishing, nothing further.
A storm has arrived and it is expected to blow for days throughout the weekend and into next week, certainly a death sentence to the Tuna bite?
The ¾ day boats fishing offshore got in their last hurrah, and had a few great days of fishing over the weekend and then the bite literally died.
Here are a few of the weekends and most likely, the last Tuna reports of the year:
The Pacific Voyager found the fish on the chew on a 1.5 day trip returning Sunday, 11-04-12. They caught 13 Yellowfin Tuna, 3 Skipjack Tuna, 100Yellowtail and 1 Dorado.

The Ocean Odyssey returned Sunday, 11-04-12 from a 1.5 day trip catching 21 Yellowfin Tuna, 9 Skipjack Tuna, 155 Yellowtail and 11 Dorado.

The Voyager returned Sunday, 11-04-12 from a 1.5 day trip and caught 32 Yellowfin Tuna, 90 Yellowtail and 7 Dorado.

Just a pretty Lady with a fish:

This week, Sergio says:

Not looking good for either the truck driver or the driver in the "convertible" of all things behind him?

One less Seal in the water to steal bait and fish, yeah!

Desperation sets in to scratch that fishing itch:

Yep, it happened:

Private boater Robert took his boat to south of the 390 on Monday, 11-05-12 and caught a bunch of Yellowtail, keeping some, while also catching some decent sized Dorado. They saw Tuna jumping, but could not hook any. Some pictures:

Private boater Larry took his boat to south of the 390 on Monday, 11-05-12 and his wife caught this Hen Dorado:

A few Yellowtail are being caught at Catalina on the live squid. The six pack charter boat Dreamer fished on Saturday, 11-03-12 at the Island and caught 8 Yellowtail, 90 Calico Bass, 4 Barracuda, 4 Sheephead and 90 Perch.

Locally the target is Rockfish, Lingcod, Sculpin, White Fish and Sheephead, with a few Calico and Sand Bass mixed in.

Breaking news from the Department of Fish and Game: the limit for all three Bass species combined, Calico, Sand and Spotted Bay Bass is now Five total. Also the size limit has been increased to 14 inches.
Congratulations DFG, in my opinion a fantastic ruling. Our Bass populations have been declining for years, and thousands and thousands of 12 inch Bass our taken during the annual spawning season during the summer. Most Bass do not reproduce until they reach 12 inches and grow only one inch per year. This gives the species several more years of spawning before capture.

Out of Dana Wharf Sportfishing the ½ day boat Clemente had a decent day of Bass fishing on Wednesday, 11-07-12 catching 17 Calico Bass, 48 Sand Bass, 22 Rockfish and 2 Cabazon.

Now that Jackpot Jimmy's dad sold the Tradition last month, Jimmy returned to the scene of his early fishing adventures, Dana Wharf. This Saturday he fished on the ½ day boat, Sum Fun. The Captain took them to some good shallow water spots for Bass and Sheephead along the coast. Some pictures:

Out of San Pedro, the ½ day boat Monte Carlo had a decent trip Monday, 11-05-12 1 catching 12 Calico Bass, 1 Sand Bass, 17 Sheephead, 5 Whitefish, 48 Rockfish, 5 Lingcod, 6 Sculpin and 121 Red Snapper.
