here's to hoping there's either 28 or 42 on the boat sunday afternoon (depending on if someone can go or not).

my dad and i are planning on getting a multi-day permit and heading over to the island saturday returning on sunday. we'll be getting a can somewhere (hopefully) and sleeping under the stars (center console).

hopefully we'll return with double limit of bugs.

we'll be on 72/16. boat name is Gettin' Ugly. give us a shout.

Getting a can....in November? Owners don't even dream of coming over in this god aweful 82 degree flat calm weather! Honestly, the harbor will be basically empty except for the year rounders...that's another story! Want a secret spot? Try right on your mooring!

How do you keep warm and dry? I've slept in my center console several times and it sucks. Laying on the wet floor in full on rain gear and blankets and I'm cold and miserable even in August in LB harbor.

I've thought about bringing bean bags so that you don't have as much surface area on the wet floor. But then my boat is only 19' and I would like room to walk around.

Do you have a dry warm set up or am I being a wuss?

spend the money on a good water proof mummy bag. keep a couple sets of dry clothes in bags, wake up warm put on dry clothes ready to go

thanks mike. my dad's been dying to go but has had a LOT going on this season, and hasn't been able to hoop yet. so i told him let's go to the island!!!! should be a good time. have fun in palm springs.

we don't have anything special planned for keeping warm and dry. the general idea i have is to bring a few towels and dry off the deck before we hit the sack. lay out a couple of sleeping bags and call it a night. i'm guessing we'll be so damn tired from pulling nets it won't matter. we might bring an air matress too. not too sure yet.

thanks beta. i'm looking forward to it. we're out of bugs, and i start to get the shakes if i go more than two weeks without eating one!!!!

we'll probably hit the harbor on sunday for a little while looking for the flatness. i'll let you know how we do.
