Went out to Catalina with my dad, brother, and friend Randy aboard the Kairyu (carry-you). Last year we went 0 for 3 at the island for WSB, and this was our first trip to Catalina this year (my brother and I were busy graduating from school). After thoughtful planning, I nailed a sunrise PB 28lb 40" Halibut near China Point. We moved to one of our usual spots, despite some second guessing as we saw the Freedom, Tornado and Big Game 90 go in the other direction. I followed up with a PB 34lb WSB on 15lb line...20 mins later and my brother tacked on a PB 27lb Yellowtail on 20lb line for good measure. Called it a trifecta and thanked the Catalina gods and my dad for making this possible.
