So I entered the Izorline knot tying contest this week at the Fred Hall fishing show in Long Beach.
I entered the Media division because I'm co-author of the "It's A Keeper" GPS Fish Finding Guide of Southern California.
On Wednesday night I qualified tying #135Lb line which broke at #202.5.
This turned out to be the strongest knot for the entire show, even the pros.
Today was the final. I tied #135Lb again which broke at #195.
This also was the strongest knot in any division in the finals.
All I can say is, what a trip!
Thats my story,
Al Schneider

I won a 15-40Lb Seeker rod, a bag of goodies and a trophy.
I tied the double SD jam knot.

Ron was great as always.
I have been on his radio show a few times.
When he asked what knot I tied, I told him I tied a bow knot like on your shoe.
This threw him. He did not quite know how to respond.
It was a good laugh.
Always a kick to be around him.

I entered the adult division, as I no longer have any affiliations with any companies or media. I made the finals Sunday morning with an 89.5 on 60lb. In the finals I did a 91.5 which was good for 3rd. I tied from a different spool then the 94.5 that was tied by 2 others. They did a tie-off to determine the winner. Both of the knots broke below 80lb. A guy named Herb T, won. He has tried for years to win, good for him. He won an Accurate 870. I still had a nice bag of goodies. It was a pleasure to see Capt. Ron again. We had several great conversations during the show. It was fun to get in the finals again.
