I fished local this morning. I hit some of my go-to stones for some quick sand bass. This was made easier because I installed a new Lowrance Lcx-37c plotter/sounder/radar to augment my older lowrance 337df unit. Now I have a 1KW (RMS) sounder with a big 8" screen to find the fish and the old 5" for chart/gps duties. So far so great! Started fishing at 7:15a and I caught 5 sand bass on a "chovie" megabait. By 8am the fish (other than bait) were napping and showing little interest. Ran to the south end of the structure a noticed Lal and his Rubber Ducky were headed toward the same pile of stuff. I landed a nice 2+lb sandy on the second drop but that was it. The next move was a bit farther south and I dropped one of the spanish macs caught earlier. Instant bendo 8* The fish took line and spit the bait. The mac looked like somebody grabbed it's head with a big pair of channel locks
I tied a redflake BH on my 8lb rig and landed a 3lb sandbass on the first drop then nothing. I sent down a squid pop on a dropper loop and a few minutes later the rod holder caught a little whitefish. I ran outside a few more miles and found clean water, bait and diving birds. I trolled a bit and tossed the iron into the bait for nothing. Boy does it look fishy at 5 miles or so8) It was hard to leave but I needed to get home and help with Nick. Tight lines, Steve Team Rubber Ducky:
