"Kari Burr, manager of the foundation's release program, noted striped bass and birds continue to be a problem, trailing the net pens and feeding on smolts, but "there are fewer bass this year." She said a foundation employee "assesses" the bass problem for the Department of Fish and Game by casting lures during the net pen releases. He's been hooked up while perching on the net pen, providing a spectacle for party boats and skiff fishermen who swoop in to bag quick limits of their own."
