Surf is up until further notice, not only that but the direction is very westerly meaning that the Catalina channel has ALOT of swell...I suppose once you got to the frontside, you would be in the lee, but at this moment (Friday 8 am) the swell is 12-13 ft from 280 degrees, meaning that nearly the entire channel has significant swell..The "CDIP" map supports this, showing 8-10 ft swell filling in nearly the entire channel...put this together with the fog, and that you would be returning in the dark with a center console, sounds like misery to me at the very least...good time to settle in, have an egg nog, and sing Christmas caroles...
