RAN THE "ON ONE " TO CATALINA ON SATURDAY FOR AN UNIMAGINABLE TRIP. SEABASS LIMITS FOR 4 IN 15 MINUTES. SUCCESSFULLY RELEASED 20+ MORE WHILE TRYING FOR SOME YELLOWS. DIDNT LAND ANY MOSSBACKS SO WE RAN BACK TO THE SPOT ON SUNDAY. GOT MYSELF A NICE 30 POUD FORKIE AND THAT WAS ALL. SHOULD HAVE CHANGED MY LINE AFTER THE MAYHEM SATURDAY AS WE LOST FOUR NICE FISH. ABOUT 10 PRIVATES ON SAT AND 150 ON SUNDAY. THEY MISSED IT. ENJOY!

God I wish I had been there Saturday! We took my buddy's boat over Saturday night and as soon as we turned the corner around 12am all we could see were boat lights. It was an absolute zoo!

We saw a few fish landed, but I would have to say most boats went home with a big fat white stripe on their back. :z

Memorial day was brutal. Same zoo, different day. Uphill current, wind...stuck it out from 2am to 9pm for a lone 45-50lb WSB caught by another guy on the boat at 8pm. I was too tired to take a pic...was dead on my feet from all the time at the rail. Glad you got em when the gettin' was good. :tu:

Congratulations on the WSB and a great day on the water...

I was with the family over Memorial Weekend with the family. I went over Friday afternoon solo, while the family took the flier (too bumpy for them).

Wanted to get out there Saturday morning, but no crew..., but heard it went WFO for the fleet... Congrats..

I thought I had rounded up crew for a Sunday morning run, but they went back to their boat and disappeared for the night.... Oh well, maybe we hosted too good of a Barbaque that night... :) :)

Still wanting to head out there and not steer through a bunch of moorings and floating dinghies from inside Avalon in the dark, I loaded some gear in the 13' Whaler at O-dark thirty and ran to the backside through a rain squall or two and found the fleet at their usual hangouts...

Met up with John King just in time to snap a pic of a gal on his charter (Mojo) pulling in a nice #30+ WSB. He passed me some fresh squirts to go with the fresh dead I had and off I went to try my luck...

Witnessed a few others coming over the rail, but unfortunately for me..., current and wind was moving me a bit too fast and my 100' anchor on that little whaler was just a wee bit short for the 102' I was fishing in... :) :)

Anyway..., the fishing wasn't quite as wide open as the day before, but the fleet was having luck on both the WSB and YT Sunday.

The upside was any day fishing was a good day and I got to see a few good friends out on the water..., and better yet..., heading out this Thursday for a 'real' shot... :) :)

Cheers, Bill

When will people learn? Seabass do not do well when released and just because they swam away dose not mean they will survive!

IF YOU CAN PULL OUT ON A WIDE OPEN CBASS BITE WITH YELLOWS BREEZING AROUND THE BOAT THEN SOMETHINGS WRONG WITH YOU. JUST MAKE SURE TO REMBER WHAT YOU SAID WHEN YOU GET TO EXPERIENCE A BITE LIKE WE DID. SORRY IF YOUR OFFENDED BUT YOU NEED TO GO CRY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

What a great report!!!! Sounds like you had a blast.

So where were you fishing? Looks like the V's

Jim
ya dude it really really looks like the V's
Of course it was the Vee's and everybody was there the next day! It was more crowded than a wide open sand bass bite on the Flats. [email protected]

Frickin zoo!!!

why always with the crybaby statement when someone disagrees

Congratulations on a nice day of fishing. I happen to disagree strongly with your statement about not being able to pull of a bite. If you possibly had caught one or two WSB and at least as many yellows then I could maybe understand where you're coming from.

On the contrary you hardly caught any of the yellows you suggest you were targeting after you had WSB limits. There was substantial evidence that you were catching more whites the way you were fishing if it was 20 to 1 or 2 as your post suggests. My point is IMO if theres something wrong with anything its that you couldn't pull off or change what you were doing.

WSB do not release well, thats commonly known. The fishery is delicate, thats commonly known. By your response it seems to me you just don't care. I do, I'm not crying about it. Just hoping people will see the flaw in a mentality with a calmly written honest response.

I don't understand why one wouldn't pull off the bite, move, throw surface iron, do something different. Don't sit there catch and most likely kill fish. Its not responsible. It only reinforces the idea that we do this without regard for whats best for the fishery.

I've racked my rod in wideopen bites, because I know there will be others and I have self control that way. Maybe next time someone will think about it because instead of giving you a high five, I took the time to disagree. Maybe not, and maybe you'll suggest I should go cry somewhere else too. At least I know I'm doing what I can to protect our ability to enjoy the type of experience you were able to share with friends. I can't say the same of you.
