just curious what exactly a charter member is. how many of them are there? i come on this board pretty much daily and post a few times a week. i've been paying particular attention this week to who is doing the bashing, who is doing the lecturing, who is posting good advice, etc. i've noticed a few folks in particularly controversial stances one way or another with "charter member" below their names. what does it mean? just curious for my own personal knowledge. i'm not out to bash anyone or anything....i just want to know what the role is here.

"Charter member" means virtually nothing. At some point in the change or upgrade of the Board's software, members that had joined prior to a certain time period became "charter" members. Even some "charter" members lost their "charter" status and post count due to various glitches (I seem to recall that when the photo posting capability first started, people lost their counts).
That's it; I've been around for about 6 years, and I can't say that there is a great difference between new and old posters -- some are great, some are tools.

thanks for the replies. i was misled by the term "charter member" and assumed that it had something to do with managing the board rather than being an old fart!

Charter members quiet frankly have let us say larger....tools (members) then the other posters.

In this thread you'll notice that: MyThreeSons, GettinUglysSon, Wideopen (there's an obvious double meaning to that moniker), RustyHook, and even boswell, are all charter members. As to the other posters let's just say they have our sympathy.

The most notable non-charter member is wils, who actually flaunts his lack of member status. Keep up the good work there little guy ;-)

Other notable Charter members include Badger (that's a surprise) Mikey (no surprise there) and Don Allcoast Office. Which just shows it takes a big man to put up with all the [email protected] that goes down around here.

Bottom line if your not a charter member your just not going to be one, but don't let it get to you. It's not the size of the boat it's the motion in the ocean, or something like that.

Charter members have been around too long and they're like that old grouchy dog on the front porch. Don't kick them and they won't cause you a problem. Try and pet them and they will bite you. I think its time for some new blood to get those ole' dogs off the porch and onto the water to spend their hard earned money searching for fish. Then they can report back to us and seem useful.
