Kudos to the crew of the SEAHORSE outta Dana Point. Though looking exhausted from previous trips and the long hours that typically accompany WSB fishing, the crew was ON! We arrived at the Vees early Monday morning (near midnight) and saw an armada of PBers, cattle & light boats. It looked like the parking lot at the airport. :) We already had tanks of squid (leftover from their previous outings) and it floated under the light...a few more were boated because I was bored and the net was right there. :tu: Long story short...the current was uphill, the wind was downhill and all the luck in the world wouldn't have made a difference. Shoulda gone on Saturday when they were biting. :p The HORSE circled the entire island looking for "good water" and the fishing remained slow the whole day. Thankfully I had packed appropriately, loaded with Patron, Ipod with player and movie viewer and a good attitude. (I highly recommend the second edition MYVU video player for overnighters with no TV) Late afternoon, when we were headed home the crew does an about face and heads back to the frontside. The fleet was gone, hopes were high for some last minute glory. Hours later, no seabass. The crew and passengers gave it all they could. The hook was pulled and we were underway. I crashed out, exhausted from being on my feet all day. When I woke up I noticed the boat wasn't moving. "We must be tied up", I thought. I heard people talking and moving around on deck. "We're home." I stepped outta the bunkroom, took three steps and saw the largest WSB I have ever seen caught on a sportie hit the deck. A solid 45-50lb fish caught by a guy on his first WSB trip. :tu: The boat arrived at midnight, a weary boatload of fisherfolk dragged their butts to their cars. It was a good day. Most boats WILL NOT go the extra mile like the Dana Wharf Sportfishing guys do. These are real bulldog anglers who fish like PBers and understand the "team catch" philosphy. We all felt like we'd caught that one slug croaker last night. I can honestly say that the Tyler, Butch and the rest of the Seahorse crew are now my favorite crew anywhere. They do not give up. When every other boat on the coast was tied up and washed, we were still fishing! They also had us laughing all day...those guys are funny! Hansen should be proud. ;)

I'm not surprised about Tyler and company putting in the extra effort. Dana Wharf is my fav landing and not just because it's the closest to me. Of course, had you the "Passion to throw one more bait" that might've been you with that big WSB! "Hansen should be proud"... Did you come home with crabs?!
