Does anyone know a good Lab Breeder?

Hi everyone,
I figured I'd post this here as I know a lot of you own beautiful labs. We just had our 12 year old baby girl, Taylor, put down last week after a brief battle with hemangiosarcoma. She was honestly the best dog I could ever ask for and totally devoted to me and my family. We're not ready for another pup just yet but I do want to get one in the next couple months. The house just seems empty without that lab energy. I was wondering if any of you know of a good lab breeder that has OFA certified dogs. Been through the hip dysplasia once and don't want to do it again. I just want a good family dog with a great temperment. Let me know if you know of anyone. Here's a picture of Taylor taken at her favorite place, the beach last summer.

Tahnks for your help,

Jenny

Sorry to hear that. I went through that last year.
So sorry, Jenny....best wishes to you and Jason and the kids from me and the boys.

Let me know if you hear of a good breeder....we're looking, too.
Tim's going through this right now, too, you know.
Damn.

Dave,
I didn't know about Tim's dog. I'll give him a call tomorrow. My heart goes out to anyone that has to go through that. I guess I've had an easy life because that was seriously the hardest thing I have ever had to do. If I find something I'll let you know. Hope to see you soon.

Jenny so sorry to hear. It is so hard. I'm going through this right now with my 9 1/2 year old lab. He has a herniated disk in his back and can no longer walk on his back legs. The thing that is killing me is he acts normal and alert but just canâ??t walk. Very hard and I feel your pain. It looks like I will have to put him down since he is in pain and canâ??t walk. Things were great with him up until Sunday night when he started acting weird. My other lab knows something is up. Talk to Harold his son got an absolutely beautiful yellow lab from a breeder up there. He is actually a customer of Haroldâ??s. Really nice looking dog.

I wish animals could talk!
I'm sorry you're going through this Jenny and tj!

This is the worst thing about labs, we all go through losing one and it's never easy!

I had to make the decision to my chocolate down 7 years ago and I'm still not over it, my eyes water up just typing this.

You might have better luck with a lab from a breeder who breeds for hunting, these labs work hard and their hips need to be good!

Best of luck to you!

Ken,

Awesome pic man!

A friend of mine from high school, his family is very involved in waterfowling and his uncle trains Labs out by Rahaugees in Norco, CA. I dont hink they breed, but they have had dogs go to the Purina Challenge and finish high. I can email him to find out who his breeder is if you'd like. Family name is Cacciotore.
Hi Jenny,

About a year ago I adopted a lab from Southern California Lab Rescue.
Jenna is a black lab and she has been fantastic. She was well trained and has been nothing short of a delight. One can get a puppy all the way to an older dog. Jenna was 5 when we got her. The nice thing is the dogs all spend time with lab recue and the personalities of these dogs, are well described. Here is a link to the web site.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.
