I applaud your C&R ethics however, your method could be improved. Rather than laying the fish on a hot surface, keep it in the water. If you feel you must remove it from the water (strictly for smaller fish) in order to get the photo you want...hold it w/ a Boga or by hand. Don't set em down or handle em in a way that adversely effects the slime coat. That can have a fatal imact later.

thanks for the ID. I thought it might be one, but was not sure. I could not get the hook out in the water. The surface was probably 67 degrees, it was windy and 5:00. Just FYI I did not take it out of the water for a photo, just to get the hook out; my brother did the pic immediately after the hook was removed. Thanks for the help, and the advice.
