are there any guest slips avalible in either of these locations? i stayed in a guest slip in dana point on 8/8 and loved it. easy, convenient,clean restrooms and showers,and .75 cent bags of ice from the vending machines(loaded the boat for less than $10). dana is nice but if the pelagics come up further then i will be launching further north.

Hey Monty, when approaching Newport Harbor, go past the bait dock, and about a 1/4 mile on the right will be harbor patrol. There are docks there that you can pull into and secure a mooring or dock from their offices. Otherwise, continue on past the ferry and you will notice a huge open area with 4 yellow can's floating which is called the turning basin, and the area within those 4 yellow buoy's is the anchorage which is basically 20' mean tide. Do what you feel comfortable with, however a suggestion, be mindful of the large yacht club raftup's in the anchorages as this is a popular thing to do! Bill
