Okay, with the talk of bugs crawling just after dusk, I am getting ready to head down to DP and give it a try. Anyone else going hooping tonight down there? I should be on the water by 1730 or so. Gimme a call on 72...I am thinking of trying down around San Clemente..I am bored of the break wall...

Eddie, for what it's worth . .

If I was hooping tonight I'd head out at midnight and work the
outgoing tide from 1:08 (San Clemente high tide time) until maybe
4AM, that is unless I got lucky and finished earlier than that.

I'll guess the commercials have traps on the artificial reefs already.
I might also be inclined to head south and work them, like Pendleton.

John, We were planning an all nighter, so that might be the ticket. There are a ton of commercial traps, from seal rock all the way to a little past the domes. There is an area of kelp tha does not reach the surface just off San Mateo Point, I cruised aroud there yesterday, ther ewe not a bunch of commercial traps...Do you think area's with kelp will produce...I found a pretty flay area just outside the kelp line...
