Wow, that is a nice one!

My first trip to the rocks we slayed the 40-50 pounders fishing the dropper-loop at night. I was fishing a 6/0 with straight 80# mono....man. they hit hard and pulled harder!

I would like to know how long of a fight that 83 pounder was. That size makes me think of the Kingfish they catch down in New Zealand.

They come up pretty hard, but you fish then with heavy string and tight drag. Once you get them off the bottom it's a pretty steady grind. I think those 45-50 pounders took 15-30 minutes, my arms hurt just thinking about it. Nowadays you get the use the rail and everyone has a two-speed.

I'd much rather get a forty fly-linin....

Never fished NZ....
