The Intrepid is on an 8-day and they are up the coast just above and a little west of the Northern Channel Islands. Not sure if any of you follow them, but they caught one Albacore and one nice big Big Eye Tuna. They posted a pic on BD of the Big Eye. Pretty cool.

EDIT: Correction, they traveled to Fort Bragg. And they caught more Albacore. Wow...what a long ride.

Yes, they had an Epic trip. Albacore, Bluefin, Yellowfin, and Dorado. Oh yeah, and one Bigeye Tuna for the cherry on top. I liked what Bill Cavanaugh has done this season. He has gone outside of the conventional long range box a few times. One of his trips he steered the boat up to Santa Cruz Island and put everyone on jumbo WSB, then steered back to SCI and put everyone on the Big Bluefin.

Did you see the latest report? 210 Dorado in an hour off one kelp...PANDEMONIUM!!!!!
Not sure if you have been keeping up with the local stuff here, but the Dorado fishing locally for the past 4+ weeks has been the best it has ever been. The Pedro and Long Beach 3/4 day and full day boats along with Davey's Locker 1/2 day and all day boats pretty much are limiting out daily. Even the 1/2 days boats are scoring well when the passengers bring the right tackle and gear. Heck, even the Redondo Beach 1/2 day boat has caught a few Dorado in the South Bay.

Warm water temps,,crazy. We often caught dorado even in Oregon waters. Big eye, disappeared years ago and once common on every albacore trip. My personal best, a 130 caught off Monterey Canyon. Never fished with Bill as skipper but can't figure out why San Diego boats seldom ventured North. When albacore disappeared from California coastal fishing ports, the Ranger 85 out of Berkley, did well and on the One trip, I took, 193 Albies to 54 pounds.
