Izors Sat 5-17

Had to go fishing on my birthday after a tough day yesterday at Catalina. The water laid down after the blow yest afternoon. Water was 60.9 and green. Took a fellow bus driver-not to much experience with plastics-Jesse. We had a great time but a very slow pic til 7:30 the bass bite came and went in 20 minutes. Managed to get 12 bass and some sculpin and the it really slowed down . Saw Tuner on his nice boat, but he wasnt having any better luck than us. Downed some pickled eggs-JoJo,s recipe-and a few pacificos waiting for anything to bite. Around 12:30 they went off hard for 30-40 minutes. We landed another 30 sandies topped by a 4# er. Just another great day on the water !! 39 again today, celebrating with the kids at Zubies tonight !! All fish caught on plastics and kept 8 sandies for my buddy !!!Only 4 calicos all day.

Hey Lal,

Sounds like a good day while you educated a buddy. But what's this "rough day" at Cat? Thought HD fished with you on Friday. Don't tell me HD got the boat limit himself! Guess you don't take handoffs. Looking forward to HD's photo post.

Think i saw you guys friday morning. We arrived just after you and set up behind you. After #7 left and the Maradosa repositioned and you guys moved, we took your spot and waited it out. We finally got one about 8;00. Stayed there untill 1;00 and only saw one or two others caught. We had a sloppy ride home too, can't imagine the thrill you had! Happy birthday and you'll slay 'em next time!

We also showed up at Izor's around 6:45. Bite was on for us until just before 9, then it shut down pretty good. We pulled another few up until about 10 and then headed back in for a short day. All together, 11 Sandies and 1 Calico for 2 anglers - all safely released. We didn't even bother getting bait. Just used the squid-shaped Gulp, with red 1.5oz. jigheads. Most fish were caught on the drop. One thing I've always noticed about Izor's, the quality of the fish are always good. We didn't pull a single bass under 2.5 pounds, with one Sandie spiking 5. Great day all around on the water. WSBs should be hitting it soon, I just got that feeling!

I guess HD isnt gona post about our trip !! We got squid at Avalon and they told us all the 6 packs were up near the West end, so we went full speed cause its gettin light out. Anchored up about 100 yds from the Old #7, saw them hookup all over the boat, they were headed our way, didnt get there. They left with limits at 7:15 and we anchored up near where they were, no bites for 2 hours so we headed for the backside. Fished the skinny water-no WSB. Got 7 halibut-some legals but released them all. Tried some boiler rocks for a nice pic for big calicos on the rubber-got 20 nice ones. Finished at the East end and headed home at 2:15 into some strong winds-took 2 1/4 hours to get back, HD was beat up good-still tired !!
