my dad took my mom and their friend out on 5-30 and the bite was pretty good. they got 1 legal and about 10 shorts. so my dad, after playing deckhand all day for the ladies friday, asked if i wanted to go saturday. the only logical answer was yes.

launched around 5:30 and were fishing by about 6:10. we fished only 1 area today and it was very close to chaffey. there is a LOT of small bait in there with mackeral and small baracuda chasing them around. and there's halibut in there too.

we caught a few halibut today. i ended up with 11 halibut (4 legals, 7 shorts), and my dad caught 6 halibut (1 legal, 5 shorts). no big fish today though. the biggest 2 were about 24" or 25" inches. we only kept those two fish and the rest were released to be caught another day.

we also caught a about 8-10 sandbass and other miscellaneous fish. fun day on the water. stopped fishing at 12.

a couple of pictures:

If you don't mind me asking. Were you drifting or anchored and what was the bait of choice for you?

Thanks, Scott
We were drifting, but i think we could have done just as well anchored. the drift wasn't very fast, so we did a lot of casting and slowly walking the baits back to the boat for our fish.

We got a mixed scoop ('dines/'chovies), but I think I caught all my fish on the 'chovies.

Glendon,
Nice job on the Butts :tu:
You guys definitely stayed busy.
Looks like things are picking up locally.
Look forward to seeing you guys this summer.
It was a fun day. That area holds an amazing amount of fish. not very many big ones in there, but enough to keep you busy and fun on lighter tackle.

look forward to seeing you this summer too. hopefully we'll finally be able to fish together this summer.
