Fished local with my girlfriend, her niece, and some friends. Was hoping that the cuda would pop up again after the cold weather pushed them South last week. Headed to the short banks for some rockfish, and along the way, didn't see any sign of the cuda. No birds, no nothing, so fished rockfish and sculpin so that everyone could catch some fish. After about a couple hours, I couldn't take much more of the rockfish, so went looking around for something else. Eventually I metered some nice bait balls with cuda mixed in. Took a while to get them going, but eventually we got into a pretty steady cuda bite, with some nice logs mixed in. My girlfriend was first to hook-up.
Then I got bit shortly after. The double.
On my next fish, I got some help from my girlfriend's niece for her first ocean fish.
Last fish of the day for me was a nice log.
Was really glad that we were able to find some cuda, especially when the party boats didn't seem to be able to locate them. Jonathan
