Mustad's G-Series Hybrid Rod w/Olympus Accord 40S Spinning Reel!
First US Review of Mustad's NEW Hybrid Rod & Olympus's Accord Reel!
Mustad will be unveiling slowly throughout 2023 their NEW 18 Fishing Rod Series! I got a chance to review the G-Series Hybrid Rod for spinning reels. My honest opinion? This is one of the BEST Steelhead Rods i've ever used. I hooked a 3ft Barracuda on the 1st day of testing & the rod handled it fine. The reason it's a Hybrid is because the thicker rod section partially collapses & the 2nd shorter section is a completed piece. Why? So this makes this 9'9" rod more compact when traveling. I rank this rod up there with the Guide Select Pros of Okuma! Yes, it's that good.

Now i spooled an insane amount of 10lb Eminent Braid on the new reel Olympus Srl of Italy sent me to field test. Their NEW Accord 40S, the larger of the 2 models. Casts extremely smooth. When i was fighting a hooked Cuda both the Reel & the Rod handled the load with no issues. Casts smoothly. I foul hooked 2 more fish & again the rod & reel handled the strikes extremely smoothly. I like this combo & i now use it regularly for my shoreline jigging of Mustad Jigs.
