I am flying to Mexico next week and need to change the line on my reels. In the past this was no big deal, take 'em to Turner's and let them do thier thing. Well now I live in CO and the largest test line in bulk is 12lb, plus I have heard horror stories about carrying on reels on the plane full of line (I usually drive). I have decided to put the new line on the reels the night before fishing, my question is: what is the best knot to use attaching the line to the reel?

Just flew round trip to Alaska last week with 8 line-filled reels in my carry-on.
It was not a problem, but people ahead of and behind me still had to throw out cosmetics that were over 3 ounces!
Do not bother asking the airlines, they have no idea and they do not make the rules anyway, TSA makes the rules.
If you are worried, go to the TSA website, then go to "sporting goods", then click on "traveling with special items".
At the very end, after the understandably strict rules about guns, knives and archery equipment it says: "Expensive or fragile tackle such as flys and reel should be packed in your CARRY ON".
Print this out and carry it with you.
