I installed aluminum handles on all my newells 332, 322, 229, 338 without a problem. However, I also installed the aluminum handle on a G220 and the reel seems to bind an get hard to turn the handle. When I switched back to the original graphite the problem went away. I have worked on all these reels for many years without any problems, only when this handle was installed. Anyone have any ideas? Is it an issue with the washers...it has two on the inside of the star 1 concaved and 1 flat and one on the outside of the star which is aslo flat. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you loosen the handle nut dose the binding go away? If so the handle nut is hitting the screw that retains the bridge sleeve. Add a handle washer or two between the nut and handle to increase clearance and you will be good to go.
