I know that the board has some experienced Mako fishermen and I would Like to post some questions concerning Mako fishing. I have done some homework on Mako fishing and it seems that "line Control" and keeping your fish at a safe distance from the boat until its tired out, seems that much of the info is after the hookup rather than how to hookup. The safety aspect of Mako fishing is great info but there doesn't seem to be much info on How to catch Makos, Is trolling good? What type of Jigs? BoMs, Mako Madness? preferred colors, do I need to bait the jigs? what speeds do you troll the Mako Madness lures? Are there certain areas that produce better than others? Is chumming/bait fishing an option? do you you ballons to bait fish? Is mackerl the preferred bait or does small Bonita work too? Are Makos finicky about the bait? I have caught small makos in the past, mostly by accident using Crocodiles to catch bones and a small Mako jumping on.

Anyway, I would appreciate any info on this subject

TG1 - the best bet is to drift a chum-slick - Bonita, Mackerel, Barracuda, Squid, Gulp buckets and believe it or not foremented Chicken ground-up or a bucket of pork bellies -- could be hours, but they'll come! Comment to a slick and don't waste money on trolling -Ghostboy!
