I see allot of reports from many spots, mostly Catalina. I used to fish a cattle boat called the Californian (sunk). Great crew skipper/owner etc.
Are there many people fishing San Clemente Island.
I went once a week on Wednesdays (early to mid 70s. We could back down and anchor up on the kelp and fish all day. We caught mostly large Calico's and occasional YT, BSB and we would go a lil deeper to fill the bags with rock fish on a snotty day. I caught an 80 something lb. BSB with my 140 although it took awhile.
How is the fishing there now? We rarely came back without a bag full.
My freezer was always full. In those days Penn 140s and 500s and the original Strokers were the norm. Towards the end of the day i would rig up the 30-100lb Sabre with a Penn 6/0 with 80/lb Ande with a big slider and a fresh mack for BSB.
Just curious if the island is still putting out.
I still remember the Navy bombing the crap out of the island and chasing us off.
I'm dating myself but those were the days.

So you had a 25 year window of no fishing, no reading W.O.N., no monitoring what so ever? Did someone did up the time capsule you buried yourself in? Prison? Is this your 1st computer with dial-up? It is spring 2007 now, the Twilight Zone is now a fishing trip from 6-12 PM not a tv show on your black and white 12" tv, you really need to adjust those rabbit ears

Still all the same as you remember. And your tackle would still work too.
