Never been to the island, and plan on going there this weekend. The island options sounds much more appealing than going long chasing tuna.

Couple of questions.

What is the best launch ramp to launch out of??

Since I've never fished that Island before, any starting points for a rookie?? (if you don't want to give out your spots, (i'm looking for general information), you can PM me.

Thanks for any help.

Both Channel Islands and Ventura Lainch Ramp ramps are good. Except for very low tide conditions at Ventura, some long trailer have gotten stuck. They did post a warning sign where the drop off is, since then I've seen less problems.

Ventura ramp is right next to the Dave's Bait. Also a closer ride to get out of the harbor. In my opinion Dave's has had the best bait lately.

As for spots look for the parking lot.

Good luck!

I'd take Romeo's advice and launch at Ventura.
The bait has been nicely cured sardines, as he stated.

I'd also take Stuart's advice and email him.

DUDE, you just got hooked up! :7

Please bring back a report John.

Thank You Romeo and Stuart!

MapQuest input for directions:

1500 Anchors Way
Ventura, CA 93001

Not the exact address, of course, but it's right there.

If can give you some spots at Santa Cruz too, email me if you need some more options.

Exit off the 101 Seaweard Ave. Go west.
Left(south) on "Harbor".
Right on Spinnaker Dr.
Right on Navagator Dr.
Right on Anchors Wy.

See Ventura Thomas Guide 491 G-6.
You will be able to see it on your left as you drive on Anchors Wy

edit .....thanks DZN2FISH

Peter I think it's left on Harbor unless they changed the name. I go by there almost everyday, I must be on autopilot if they changed the name, never noticed it. Even though there is signs, it's easy to get to.

Mitch check your email.
