Glendon,
The guy in the picture is my fishing partner Alex,we looked at the designs of many different aluminum boats and even traveled to Cananda meeting about 6 boat builders.
One of our friends has built boats before and we really liked his style of boat, there were no plans though.
Alex drew up the templates and cut all the stuff you see in the photo's....

Right on Neill. Its already beginning to look like a boat. Good luck with her buddy. Please keep them pics coming, this project is very cool. BIG TENTACLES OUT !!!
RE: She's under construction...new pics

sweet. build it EXACTLY how you want it. sounds like a GREAT plan to me if you've got people that can do it.

another 17 feet to that would put it in the 30 foot range?

what are the specs gonna be?

30' by 10'
250 gallons of gas
30 gallons water
100 gallon bait tank
sleeps 4

??????

details details. what do you have planned?

are you currently boatless?

She's going to be an indestructable fast-moving tank!
Well, unless you encounter a torpedo.

Thank You for keeping everyone UPDATED on her progress!

John,
A major safety concern over the last 2 seasons has been hitting objects at night when running on radar at 25 knots.....

Wowâ?¦â?¦.Iâ??m tiredâ?¦â?¦

We learnt a lot today as youâ??ll seeâ?¦

Bulkheads blocked and supported

More blocking

Alex tack welded handles to the underside of the bottom sheets so he could pull them down while I stood on top of the sheet to form it to the frameâ?¦

Alex did some really good tack welds today and some really horrible onesâ?¦

The welder Trace is not gonna be a happy camper on Monday....:)

Bottom sheets

Front bow sheets, 20ft long and 400lbs eachâ?¦

Alex putting a 45 degree router along the sheet edgeâ?¦

Starting to form the bow, another BIG, BIG thing we learnt today was that aluminum sheets have a memory because they are cut off a roll when ordered. There is a right way to cut a sheet and a wrong wayâ?¦..

One bow sheet had the natural curve towards the bow, the other sheet did not like it at allâ?¦:(

We were having to put extreme pressure on the sheets to get them to form together, Alex would tack as we wentâ?¦.

More Pressureâ?¦..

[img]http://www.allcoastsportfishing.com/photos/data/500/100426DSC03782.JPG

The fork truck could not apply any more pressure so we had to create a jig that would keep pulling these sheetâ??s togetherâ?¦.gotta love aluminumâ?¦

I was at this point very concerned about the amount of force we were applying, if something gave way it was not going to prettyâ?¦

Inside viewâ?¦.

Success.

Pretty good for a wood flooring contractor and his sidekick the computer geek.

Back at it in a few hoursâ?¦.

(Hey Pat, how are you....?)

I've been doing the Little League /Pop Warner football coaching thing. And putting in a lot of hours in at work. Not much time to fish right now but my time will come soon.
I can aleady tell that your boat will be a fishing machine! Keep the pics coming.............Pat
RE: She's under construction...updated pics 02/11

nice. it's starting to take form. i can only imagine the noise that thing would have made had those tack welds not held. TWAAA-A-ANNNNNGGGGGG!!!!! would have been deafening.

keep the pictures coming, you guys are making GREAT progress.

We got a lot done today....

All the reverse chine that Alex designed was cut and tacked in place...

A new bulkhead was cut and installed in the bow section we created yesterday....

All the joints that need to be welded have been cleaned and are ready for the 2 welders that are going to be on site tomorrow....

Then we can install the side sheets next weekend and brace them into the hull....

I'll take some pics tomorrow....

Mike,
I've been thinking that all day.....:)

Bruce came down to the shop today to see our progress....I think he was quite surprised to see how far along we have got....

He assures us that he's done it 4 times before and it's all good....

I will be there that day with the camera....

Here's the reverse chine that was installed yesterday....

The new front bulkhead we fabricated after we created the bow...

The scary thing is that all of this is under the water line.......

The overveiw.....

We cleaned until Trace showed up this morning, Alex put a up welding scheme and Trace will stich weld the front 3 chambers and fully weld the rear engine compartment,

I thin there is a couple of days of intense welding, my lips got chapped and my face sunburnt from the tacking Trace did till noon...

I'm back to regular work for the next few days...This weekend we will put the side sheets on....
