Few anglers today are mono anglers,,too much line capacity with the smaller, lighter gear.I for one, find myself in nearly every tangle.Seems like the dines all become great swimmers pulling lighter spectra and will swim across the stern during a long soak.I have been using spectra as backing, electing to use a 50 or 100 yard tops of soft steel mono..,it has taken me a few days of adjusting my methodology to stay out of tangles.Having said that,I am amazed of the skills of new breeds of anglers including some gals. Some of the most skilled ive ever seen are women.Planning a long range trip, targeting big tuna means a 9 to 10 grand venture and 9 days of running on a 16 day trip.Youve got to be really dedicated.Anyhow good luck to the few that are able to afford longer trips, your chances of landing bigger fish are as good as it gets.
