SST Was Named For Salmon-Steelhead & Trout!

Okuma produced the "SST 'Ma' Travel Rod Series" for those fresh & salt water anglers that lead a mobile fishing existence. This series has 5 rods ranging from 6'6" to 10'6". I got the longest model for whipping long distances. There are other travel series that Okuma offers but i just wanted this one. Not only for airline travel but for just backpacking to having a fishing rig while driving.

Technique and species-specific rod actions-
Rod blank made from IM-8 graphite (E-Glass used for halibut rods)
Light and responsive 24/30-ton low resin carbon blanks
3 or 4 pcs blank construction depending on model
Sea Guide deep press guide frames for added durability
Zirconium inserts offer compatibility for both braid and mono
Premium cork fore and rear grip with rubber cork accents
CG models feature woven carbon fore and rear grips
Precision placed stainless steel hook keeper on all models
Stainless steel hook keepers on all cork rod models
Travel rods come packed in a protective SST rod tube
SST rods are backed by a 1-year limited warranty

The Model #SST-S-1064Ma That I Chose-
Foregrip=2-1/2in.
Reargrip= 11in.
Handle Style=A.
Line Weight= 8-17lbs.
Lure Weight= 3/8 - 3/4oz.

What is the overall-length of the packing tube?

It really blows when I can't get a "travel" rod to fit in a checked bag, and I have two Okumas and one Lamiglass rod that wont, which is a same as they are all nice rods.

I do not understand why manufacturers do not take this into consideration.

Here are rods laying on top of two of the biggest check-bags available.
