Posted earlier about where our local tackle shop went and the post has been removed. Is it because I dissed the local big chain no bueno por caca store? These guys on this board know me and my friends and I enjoy the conversation we have, but, I just wanted to know what happened to our local tackle shop, am I not allowed to voice my displeasure with the service/non service the big chain store has to offer? If Allcoast is strapped in any way to these chain stores to keep people like me from voicing my displeasure with the service and non-knowledge of local needs then I don't need to visit this site any longer. If I'm outa line or misinformed or it has been moved to another forum, please let me know, because I hope the afformentioned is not the case.

Hi Steve,
The fishing reports board is for reports only. Looks like your post was moved to the private boaters general info board and already has several responses.
As Louis stated . . .

RE: As Louis stated . . .

Thanks Louis, I will pay more attention to where I post non-fishing reports, I just posted on the Private Boater's because I know the most persons on that board, sorry if I sounded a little perterved (is that a word?) but it seemed like it was moved because of my personal opinion about a chain store in our area and my displeasure of the absence of LOCAL tackle stores and the needs of the LOCAL fishing community. Thanks again! :)
RE: As Louis stated . . .

Steve,
You are talking about Harbor Tackle in SB??? He got tired of the fishing business, and went into Real Estate!?!?!?! Don't forget Hook Line and Sinker...all in all a GREAT place...

Yea Gin and Tonneson wake up my friend or yowl get your pp spanked.
RE: As Louis stated . . .

Yeah, Paul's been burned out for a while now. I wouldn't mind the waterfront office part, but when you make your hobby into a business you just lost your hobby. I'll miss Harbor Tackle but as long as Shin's (Hook, Line & Sinker)around we're more than OK. I'll just have to get him to carry a few more BH colors. He's usually good about that kind of thing if you ask him. -Dr Bob (
RE: As Louis stated . . .

Agreed....it was tough for Paul to make a decent living, i think...and it was for sale for a while.
I enetrtained thoughts about it...for about three minutes. To make a real go of it needed a mega cash infusion, I believe...and it needed to be more than just a tackle shop. With so many tourists walking around....there was money to be mad.

Mr. Shin has always been da Bomb...he gets a bunch of my scratch.

"Gin and Tonneson wake up"....hee hee....

Local Tackle Needs

I can tell you first hand that fishing tackle is not a lucrative business. Most tackle store which stay in business are retirees just making a few bucks and keeping busy or the financially independent who want to get deeply involved with their hobbie. I dont know anyone who is making a killing on fishing tackle. At least retail. You just cant make a living. Maybe the manufacturers are making a buck.....I dont know. They get taxed up theass too.

Bottom line: Take care of your local tackle dealer! Even if it cost a little more than Sport Mart......use 'em or lose 'em. That is why I make it my personal policy to buy my personal tackle from a local shop, rather than squeeze out a deal through a wholesaler. I usually buy from Fishermans Access in Brea.
RE: Local Tackle Needs

I don't know about the not making money part...Shin always seems to have a smile on his face when I walk through the door...seems like as long as I'm around, there will be money to be made...

RE: Local Tackle Needs

So true, Greg!
Shin just got 120 of mine two days ago!
And it's only mid-February. He just bought a new lake boat, too.
My boat just came back from Eric's and is tip top...ready to roll.
Robert....c'mon...you think i pay full fare at Brophy's??

RE: Local Tackle Needs

Not profitable? Tell that to Sportmart and Sport Chalet, they are doing quite well with the fishing business.....ever notice how their fishing isles continue to expand? Now the real question......perterved?????
