There have been some incidental catches of Yellowfin Tuna this season,
but certainly not as many showing as the normal amount. Then again we
have had a better then average amount of Dorado so far, and a plethera
of the once extinct Bonito. I truly believe the reason we are seeing
so many Bonito so far this year is because the seiners are really
drilling the Tuna, and I mean drilling them, and leaving the Bonito
alone for a change.
If I was looking for Yellowfin I'd start at the TANNER and work towards the CORTEZ.
There's a band/trail of the RIGHT TEMP water from the south that pushes north and then inside a little.
Although some leaping tuna were spotted out there early last week, a trip to the banks last Saturday produced no signs of tuna for a few friends of mine.... you never know though, it is a highway out there, fish come and go all the time, imho.
