Is there any other info on the "4" series? I checked the Calstar site and didn't see them listed. Anyoen have any other info at all on these blanks?

Thanks Of course, there is no description. Specs on the "4" blanks would indicate these have more lifting power than the standard 765's, due to a wider butt section. Anyone have any info on why these were made, or will I have to call LEon and find out for myself?

 

The idea behind them was to make a stiffer rod for fishing the rail for big tuna. when I was gonna get a 765M for an 80# acid rod I compared it with the 7465M-no comparison imo, the 4 series was much stiffer with a much faster taper, would have killed my back-went with and am happy with the 765M.

 

THat's what I was looking for. I'm going to build a rod for someone, I was planning to use the 765M, but he's going to use the rail 100% of teh time. I'm gonna point him to this thread and see what he thinks. I prefere to build him somethign that hurts him, as we will be fishing together, and if his back goes out, that give me more room at the rail, lol.

The 7465 series would definitely make great rail rods.

Unless you seriously overload one, any fish is gonna have a hard time keeping that powerful recoil down against the rail. Just put it in low and wind a bend into that rod!

Another thing I noticed was that the 7465XL had a noticibly thicker mid and butt sections than the 765ML when comparing them side by side. This no doubt affects the rods action as observed.

That sounds a lot like the GUSA Predator. I think this is exactly what my friend is looking for, thanks a lot.

 

Billy if you want to hurt him check out the Seeker CTS63XXXXH. Its 6'3", fast action, rated 80-150#. What belongs on the end of it is a combination roller tip/gaff hook.
