RE: Any insight into a late 76-78 24' Sea Ray Sedan Bridge?

I would think with 200hp it would be under powered? Maybe that's why he's selling it? If you spend the kind of money to drop a new diesel in a boat and then sell it shortly after--I'm suspicious--but I'm going to check it out.

RE: Any insight into a late 76-78 24' Sea Ray Sedan Bridge?

I think the engine has 22 hrs Since Major Overhaul. But No Worries is right, 200 diesel HP is perfect for that boat; should cruise 18-22 with a top end of 28-30 with the right props, Probably A5s.

RE: Any insight into a late 76-78 24' Sea Ray Sedan Bridge?

No worries, I had been driving past a 78' sedan bridge for a while and admired the style. My friend and I stopped by and picked it up the next day for $7000.00 ran good but need a lot of work. Definite project boat. I mean this guy had drywall screws holding things together etc. Well long story short and sweat and time we did what you're talking about. Stripped down the boat to bare glass and painted with epoxy paint. All fittings stainless everything stainless. Upolstery. Everything!!! Most everything off e bay even the out drive, engine all newer models. Had a high bow rail made instead of the old ankle breakers. We love this boat and have a great time with it. Just like the guy that commented previously the dual station is great in weather. But as he said the Skippy has more deck area. And if you do decide to get one try to get the flush deck as opposed to the hump. I canGÇÖt get any picGÇÖs up here for you my work blocked us from all media storge sights but IGÇÖll send them to your e mail.

WOOT! I'm a private boater again!

I bought the diesel Sea Ray. She's beautiful. It will be soooo hard to work this week!!!! The boat is super clean. I've got to get a sounder a plotter and I'm good to go. I'm thinking Furuno 600L for the sounder and a Garmin 172 for the plotter.

I guess I need to change the oil/filters, eh? ARGH. I want to get it wet this weekend. Any good volvo mechanics in OC that can change the fluids this week?

I've got to get saltwaters over to get a good maintenance list together. I'll probably be swapping the fuel filter system out for one that uses dual Fleetguard filters. Does anybody put a fancy oil filter system on their volvos? I know on the trucks (like my cummins) they make some fancy filter setups that dual filter the oil as well. I've possibly got one bad battery. The womans already talking about putting curtains in it, buying canvas covers, putting a flush toilet in... hehe.

Here's a pic of the boat:

RE: WOOT! I'm a private boater again!

Congratulations Jason, nice ride and that ain't no rebuild either! You're going to love it, let us know what kind of speed she produces. Synthetic in the drive and 10.5 qts of Delo 15/40 and your good to go! Don't be alarmed if you only remove 8-9 quarts though, its very common. Just check your dipper frequently while refilling. See ya on the water!

RE: WOOT! I'm a private boater again!

Found some dry rot. Not too pad though, just a small area behind where the sliding door goes. The joys of old boat owning.

Now to divide projects into this season and off-season--the dry rot will probably be fixed in the off season.

I'm now learning the joys of dual stations.. twice the wiring brain damage as one station! Hehe. Found out today that the NAV LIGHTS switch also starts the motor! D'OH! Got that wire disconnected pronto. Hehe.

What's the best way to seal screw holes in the deck? There are some holes in the bow where there was some teak trim that is missing... and I think I would rather just make it a flat deck then replace it. Get rid of the tripping hazard.

RE: WOOT! I'm a private boater again!

Congrat's Jason! That's nice and to top it off diesel! Well have fun.
Here's a link to a few pic's after we got done with painting and all the fun stuff haha.

Sweet. So much for a project boat. Please post how she runs with that diesel package. I'm very interested in the cruise speed top speed and fuel consumption. Does it have a flush deck? That might be my next step on mine. Thanks for any info.

The Cuban Catastrophe - thanks for sharing the pics--boat looks nice!

Yellow Rose - it's got a flush deck. I'll post speed info after this weekend... I probably won't go far enough to get a good read on the mileage, but we'll see.

RE: WOOT! I'm a private boater again!

Your Welcome Jason!!!!!!!!

I was contemplating on buying the boat after I looked at it last Monday and fixing it up a little and reselling it, the motor and drive alone are worth the asking price, Good luck with it, the guy before put a lot of money into the repower and fuel tank, now you just need to finish up the cosmetics

Definitions of Woot on the Web:

The term w00t is a slang interjection used to express happiness or excitement, usually over the Internet. The expression is most popular on USENET posts, multiplayer computer games (especially first person shooters), IRC chats, and instant messages, though use on the World Wide Web in the form of weblogs or in forums is by no means uncommon.

Have you ever bought anything from woot during a woot off? Most of the stuff I've seen has been junk.

RE: WOOT! I'm a private boater again!

Thanks for not buying it Brian! I'm not going to resell it... I'm going to keep it forever!

I haven't got much sleep since I bought the boat. It's tough to sleep when I could be working on it or taking it offshore!
